Maye River Gallery's resident silk artiste, Karin Haupstein, recently traveled to Port Angeles, Washington to participate in a workshop with Master Silk Painting Artist, Karen Sistek. Sistek is the developer of the “Sistek Sizing Technique," a method used to control the spread of dye while working on delicate silk fibers. Sistek's novel approach incorporates modern techniques, bypassing silk painting methods that historically challenged artists working with fragile and exquisite materials. Can it get even better? We can't wait to see Karin's new creations!
